Steven Scott

Steven O’Donnell Scott’s style, which he calls impressionistic realism, is a masterful use of color and light. He tells us that “by combining realism with impressionism, I try to leave some areas soft and mysterious and at the same time let the viewer focus on the subject without being let down.”

Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Scott has spent most of his life traveling and living in the western United States. After formal art studies at Santa Monica College and Chouinard Art Institute, Scott settled down in California to work as an architectural illustrator. Throughout his 25-year illustration career, Scott painted western subject matter on a part-time basis. His work earned him the opportunity to display in the Royal Western Watercolor Society Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City and at President Nixon’s Western White House. He currently resides in California with his wife, Jean and their children.
