Larry Deacon
Inspired by travels throughout Canada and the United States, artist Larry Deacon is in constant search of something new in the vastness of the North American landscape. Whether viewing the majestic peaks of the Rocky Mountains or the rugged coastline of the eastern seaboard, Larry ventures off the beaten path to seek out that forgotten boat, or deserted lighthouse on a foggy morning. Deacon reveals a natural artistic aptitude that expresses itself today in a contemporary realist style.
By his teenage years, Deacon was successfully experimenting in watercolors, pen & ink, acrylics, and oils. However, his aesthetic insistence for substantive realism lead to the discovery of an old method of painting using egg tempera as a medium. Deacon demonstrated his mastery of this meticulous, and arduous painting technique by creating accurate depictions and engaging the viewer with an inner life and personality of the subject. Presently his distinctive works are done in oils, acrylics, egg tempera, or gouache and have attracted a wide audience and are sure to strike a responsive chord in new viewers.
