John S. Wilson
A love of nature, a commitment to quality, and a sense of humor make John Wilson’s artistic statements sincere and memorable. While growing up in South Dakota, John enjoyed many boyhood experiences such as hunting and fishing. John was taken by the wonders and fascinating details of the great outdoors, which inspired him to pick up his first paintbrush. It was then he discovered his innate talents in art and began the journey toward a career in wildlife art.
In addition to creating new original paintings for limited edition lithographs, he has had some exceptional achievements including winning the South Dakota Pheasant Restoration Stamp Contest twice, the Federal Duck Stamp Contest, the South Carolina Waterfowl Stamp Contest, and the Illinois Salmon Stamp Contest, to name just a few.
John continues to live, recreate and be inspired by the land and animals. He states one of the greatest benefits to his job is the hunting, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors–or rather, doing research for his next project.
