Ruth Soller

A professional artist for over thirty years, I create oil paintings of National Parks and western landscapes in a contemporary modernist style. Inspired by travel and plein air studies, my magical landscapes express passion through brilliant hues and dramatic contrasts. My vibrant paintings are built up in layers of oil paint on a sienna-toned linen or canvas. Once varnished my paintings take on a translucent depth akin to stained glass. My gift of creative communication occurs as my art is seen and experienced by others. Studying with admired artists honed my skills and intention. Perseverance through challenges focused my style and voice. I discovered that creating art brings healing power to my body, mind, and spirit. My purpose is to share my awe of nature and create energy and joy through art. My training includes portraiture workshops with the late Daniel E. Greene and Johanna Harmon and plein air landscape workshops with Jane Hunt and Marc Hanson. I studied horse anatomy and live sketching in Jill Soukup’s Painting Horses Workshop at Zapata Ranch, near Great Sand Dunes National Park. I traveled with Colorado Repertory Singers to Salzburg, Vienna, and Prague gathering inspiration and resources for new art. Numerous awards include Landscape Artist of the Year in Art Comes Alive! international competition at ADC Fine Art Gallery in Cincinnati, OH, Best Oil Painting in the Western Spirit Show in Old West Museum, Cheyenne, WY, and several Awards of Excellence in Manhattan Arts International and the Healing Power of Art and Artists competitions in NYC. Collectors of my paintings include Good Samaritan Cancer Center, International Association of Fire Fighters Washington DC, Caddell Construction Co., Pike Pioneer Museum, The Vermont Country Store Scale Museum, Ranch-Way Feed Mills, Legacy Homes LLC, and ReMax Realty. Solo shows include “National Parks and Cloudscapes” at ADC Fine Art, Cincinnati, OH in 2022, Osmosis Art Gallery, Creative Framing Gallery, Broomfield Auditorium, Lafayette Public Library, MUSE Performance Space, Breckenridge Theater Gallery, and Miners Alley Playhouse. My “Portrait of Rosa Parks” was unveiled in my solo show at Troy University Rosa Parks Museum, Montgomery, AL in 2003. My important group shows include Colorado State Capitol Governor Polis’ Office, Salmagundi Club New York, Butler Institute of American Art, CM Russell Museum and Auction, Western Masters Art Show, Cheyenne Old West Museum, Panhandle Plains Historical Museum, Denver International Airport, Art Steamboat, and US Senator Michael Bennet’s office in Washington, DC. Art Design Consultants Fine Arts published my art in Blink Art Resource 2022. Plein Air Magazine included my painting in “National Parks Portfolio” in February/March 2021. Mountain Living magazine published “Healing Views” by Laura Beausire in their 25th Anniversary Issue May-June. “Portrait of Rosa Parks” was published in hardcover book Montgomery River Region Sketchbook.

TIMELESS HOME DECOR

My vision of the January full moon glowing brilliantly over the fresh powder on the front range of the Rocky Mountains crystallized in my memory. January was known as the Wolf Moon, because of the hungry wolves howling at the moon during the long frigid winter nights.
