UNDER THE ASPENS

TIMELESS HOME DECOR
Where I live in New England, in the White Mountains region, we have abundant birch trees and are known worldwide for our fall colors, with the birch turning that distinctive yellow. The trunks of birch trees are truly white, whereas Aspen trees appear to be white with a green tint underneath. I like to paint both but there are subtle color differences that make Aspen more pleasing to paint. Everything takes on a soft greenish yellow under the canopy of the aspens. This painting is all about the Aspens. I chose an elk because the antlers remind me of branches.
