THANKSGIVING IN NEW YORK

Thanksgiving in New York

MEET THE ARTIST

Zac Kinkade

Zachary Thomas Kinkade, Thomas Kinkade’s nephew, was born in 1992 and has been passionate about art his entire life. Beginning when he was 11, Zachary began entering and winning national and regional art competitions and shows. Deciding that art was his calling, Zac submitted a portfolio to the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Art and was accepted to the school in preparation of formal university training the arts. During this time, Zac also attended Tarrant County College to study art and most significantly began apprenticing at the Thomas Kinkade Company to explore his own aesthetic vision. Zac continued these relationships while attending Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, where he eventually graduated with honors from that academy’s prestigious school of art and architecture.

TIMELESS HOME DECOR

There is probably nothing more exciting than the fall and winter holidays in New York City. There is probably nothing more central to that excitement than the Thanksgiving Day parade. Standing in the brisk air, marching bands play, floats pass by and overhead, whimsical balloons fill the sky. It all truly overwhelms the senses and fills the heart with the happiness of the season. In my mind, the parade procession begins with the scary fun of Halloween as depicted by the jack-o-lantern seen moving down the street and into the distance. Then, a Thanksgiving turkey and old Saint Nick take center stage of the celebration. Baby New Year follows, bringing up the rear and marking the turn of another calendar page.

You may notice one of New York's most famous visitors, a gorilla who would be king, and another fabled bestie of imagination, that many of us can only hope to see when the unusual occurs. Indeed, my parade happens when pigs can fly! I hope you enjoy this Thanksgiving in New York and as always, I want to thank you for sharing my adventure in art.
