Robin's Camoflage
About This Artwork
The winterberries provide a perfect camouflage for the European robin. I had to look twice before I realized he was perched up there, scanning the ground for insects. While some robins migrate south in the winter where they find a more abundant food supply, a few remain here. And I love seeing them in my garden, a welcome pop of color! Unless there is snow on the ground they will forage for spiders and insects under the fallen leaves and other garden waste. And of course the mealworms I provide in the bird feeder!
