Pheasants in Snow

Pheasants in Snow

About This Artwork

Pheasants are not actually endemic here in the Netherlands, several centuries ago they were imported from the Caucasus and China. They were considered fun to hunt as well as tasty to eat and were bred and distributed specifically for this purpose. Now the pheasants have successfully integrated here in the Netherlands and we don’t want to lose them anymore! I just love seeing them roam through the dunes here on the island Ameland, they look like a real family!
