About the artist

The shapes, nuanced colors, and habit of being most active just before sunrise and just after the sun goes down, lend a mystical quality to Black-crowned Night-Herons. In this painting, I thought of them as a metaphor for wisdom, and placed them deep into the composition to make viewers feel as if they are on a journey. The journey is not straight-forward, but ultimately leads to place of deeper understanding.
