While bird watching at Prairie Island, near Winona, Minnesota, I came across a pair of greater scaup. I was surprised to see the head shape and color of the drake was very different from the lesser scaup. This discovery and the beauty of the pair with their subtle iridescent colors inspired me to create these carvings.
