The Grizzly Bear (Ursus arctos horribilis) is powerfully built with a large head, prominent nose, rounded inconspicuous ears, small eyes, short tail and a large, powerful body and typically have a noticeable hump above the shoulders. This hump is one of the most prominent features on a grizzly bear. A male grizzly weighs between 300 and 850 pounds and has a life span of approximately 20 years. The word grizzly refers to grizzled or grey hairs in its fur and gives it the name Ole Silvertip. Despite their impressive size, grizzlies are quite fast. Tracks show five toes on both front and hind feet. The front foot will have long less curved claws, and will be used for digging. These awe-inspiring giants tend to be solitary animals and live in forested areas. Grizzly bears are omnivorous and will eat grasses, roots, berries, insects, fish, and both small and large mammals. In the Northwest United States, grizzly bears roam the Yellowstone and Glacier Park areas of Montana and western Wyoming. Cold cast and realistically hand-painted. Tabletop or wall presentation. Includes educational facts on each animal. 15-1/2"H x 12-1/4"W x 2-1/4"D.
